Beebalm
Monarda didyma

Beebalm is an aromatic, ornamental perennial with very distinctive and attractive flowers. Beeblam grows to about 2-4 feet tall and can become invasive. They prefer to grow in full sun in soils that retain moisture. The uniform soil moisture helps to prevent stress in the plant, which is one of the causes of severe mildew on the foliage. Beebalm blooms in early to mid summer and will continue to flower if old blooms are deadheaded. Beebalm is not drought tolerant. Dry sites result in plants that do not have an attractive appearance. Cultivars to look for include 'Adam', 'Mahogany', 'Blue Stocking' and 'Snow White'.
