Types of Ornamental Grasses

Blue Lymegrass
Elymus arenarius glauca

Zone: 4-9

Height: 2-3 feet

Blue Lymegrass is a coarse textured, steel-blue grass. It spreads rapidly by underground rhizomes which makes it a very invasive type of grass and one that may out grow its welcome in a perennial border. It is best used in open areas. It will tolerate some light shade, but its best growth is achieved in a full sun site in moist well-drained soils. It flowers from June–August. It needs to be cut down in late fall or early spring to allow all new, clean foliage to show to the best advantage.
