Shaping Our Future in Urban Communities
University of Illinois Extension works wherever there are educational needs in urban, suburban, and rural locations. Our outreach extends across Illinois to youth and adults, families, communities, businesses, industries, and other organizations. Extension continues its historic commitment to rural communities, families, and businesses. But just as Illinois has changed, so has Extension changed to meet the needs of all people. Today's most important issues know no geographic boundaries. Our most complex problems, such as environmental issues, neighborhood revitalization, water quality, health issues, public safety, youth development, school reform, or economic growth and jobs, affect everyone. Failing to deal with these problems leads to increased costs for us all as consumers and taxpayers. Extension provides education and information focused on addressing environmental, economic, and societal issues in the following program areas:
